Contextual Research Day 1- Creating a poster

On my first day of Contextual studies I was given a chance to learn three different types of Software; Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. I had already been able to use Photoshop and Illustrator in previous works but was given a chance to learn about InDesign something I had never used before. Having the opportunity to be taught by a practicing designer was a great opportunity and she was able to give me a fresh take on how to use software I had been using without knowing how to do certain things. Our main task to help us test and learn our skills was to create a poster. We were asked to choose a memory to present. I chose to show one of my favourite memories of me going Easter egg hunting when I was younger. I was able to use the new skills to assemble a poster.

  1. I enjoy seeing your finished poster as I was sitting next to you whilst you began it and I think it turned out really nicely. Through the image used, you convey a sense of nostalgia but you keep the poster modern and fresh through your use of graphics. This is a good balance as it creates a piece that represents both your past, present and possibly your future as a graphic designer.
